The Thirsty Crow Puppet Show - Children's Day

A wonderful line-up of activities for kids on Children's Day - sounded like a childhood re-visit!

band of beads was privileged to be a part of this exciting line-up - The Thirsty Crow Puppet Show!

On a bright Sunday morning, children were all excited, seated in a library. There was a murmur of "caw... caw" as the show started, little eyes awaiting a glimpse of the puppet! A huge round of applause (without prompts/instructions) followed as the crow made an entry! The crow was excited!

Nature is a true inspiration. An instant connect! A world of traditional virtual reality - which is real! The best part - it does not harm!

I was in awe witnessing the connect and the story coming to life in the young minds! A handmade puppet. A traditional story in a modern storytelling set-up. Time changes things. But, the roots remain the same!

band of beads is excited to extend the world of beading to offline puppetry! Those beady eyes bring in a lot of moments worth a capture!

The Uber stall experience!

"Yet another year of ideas coming to reality!", I thought as I set up the band of beads stall for Uber Verdant Ganesh Utsav.  This year, there was a new addition - themed bead hangings - call it noiseless wind-chimes with a visual splendor! There was a great thrill in setting them up on a stand! The effect was visible in the eyes of kids coming to the stall! It was a small wonderland for sure! We got a glimpse of one more wonderland - from our new customers! One of them did a  mix-and-match of a  green zigzag tussar silk skirt with a plain yellow cotton-silk top. The skirt came with earrings to match the skirt pattern. But, something was missing! On the stall display, with the yellow top had a hand-made "birdie" themed necklace - an absolute show-stopper! The necklace grabbed her attention and WOW! That was a stunning outfit she designed for herself! Quite a visual splendor! Band of Beads is re-born

"Why did I leave the art? Why did I leave the expression of friendship? How in the world did I forget about these bands?" My mind was storming with all sorts of questions. Questions, which seemed to have no answers. Life seemed to show its magic. The magic of time, and what it can do to you. This band, lying in a bag, had such a beautiful story about time. The past, and the current. But what about the future? What about the unanswered questions? What about the art? I decided to make a band right away. And to my surprise, I still remembered every single step of making it!  After a while, a fresh band lay in front of me! There was a sense of joy inside me. An accomplishment. A delight. A feeling, which you get when you see a sapling coming out of a seed... The familiar "aroma" of wet mud, when it first rains. So fresh. So pleasant.
